Fujitsu Toshiba mobile communications has unveiled the world's first Windows Phone 7 Mango handset, IS12T, in Japan.

The phone was made for au by KDDI, one of the largest CDMA carrier in Japan. The phone is expected to release in "September or beyond", according to the official release.
IS12T is the world's first smartphone to use Windows Phone 7.5, a.k.a. Mango operating system. It comes with vivid colors like Neon Yellow ("Citrus") and Shocking Pink ("Magenta") as many other Japanese stylish phone does, and it also equips with IPX5/ IPX8 waterproof and IP5X dust-proof. Whatsmore, the phone has a 3.7-inch WVGA screen, a 13.2 mega-pixel camera, and 32GB of flash storage. When being launched, au will incorporate with clothing brands to launch some fashionable phone cases.

Earlier this week, Microsoft handed out codes of Mango to its mobile operator partners to optimize Mango for their specific phone and network configurations. The IS12T showcased in the presentation doesn't have much customization though, but has surely equipped with native Windows Phone 7.5 enhancements such as multi-tasking, built-in Internet Explorer 9 web browser, and more smooth and seamless operating experience.

The phone has set a high bar in terms of specs and design of a Mango smartphone. However, there are no signs for other Windows Phone makers on specs and launch date of their new products.

Last month, the first Mango phone by Nokia with codename "Sea Ray" was leaked during a presentation by the company CEO, followed by another leak in China. However, the phone is not going to launch until the end of 2011. While people anticipate that Nokia will take the time in customizing the phone, especially on navigation functions, a source that claimed to be familiar with Nokia products said "In practice Nokia's Windows 7 phone is just Nokia's own design. And that's it." Nokia later denies the comment and said it was pure rumor.
