On the surface it may look as if the Blackberry will fall from grace due to stiff competition with the new android and iphone. However, this has not been the case.
The Blackberry has one feature that the others do not - Blackberry Instant Messaging. Similar to text messaging, this application is fast, and best of all, free. Eliminating the need for an expensive data package is a huge plus. This feature has high school and college students choosing this phone over others.
Parents are more than happy to avoid the massive text messaging bills their teen can run up, and are more willing to buy them this phone over other choices. Blackberry is hoping that parents seeing the benefits of the phone will help make it an attractive choice for them as well....<Read more>
According to a recent study completed by ABI Research, it is expected by the year 2016 that at lest 45 percent of smartphones will be based on the Android operating system. This 45 percent figure is possible as at least sixty-nine million smartphones were purchased in 2010, with this number expected to grow in the steadily each year. One of the main reasons for this growth will be a decrease in the amount of smartphones using a Symbian operating system.
However, this growth is not just expected for Android-based smartphones. Other brands such as BlackBerry or Samsung will also increase in sales in the coming years. Even though RIM’s BlackBerry is expected to show growth in sales, it is expected that there will be at least a two percent drop in the future consumer market share....<Read more>

Those benefits were especially valuable to corporations and enterprise professionals, who relied on the security offered by RIM phones and strongly preferred the level of control offered by RIM phones. They were, and still are today, the ultimate IT connectivity hub and productivity booster for those working in large companies. From the beginning, this was the market that RIM products catered to and their success can be attributed to an intense focus on this group of individuals....<Read more>
Mike Lazaridis, co-CEO of RIM appeared flustered when being questioned in a recent BBC interview about mobile device security issues in India. There has also been speculation about the recent campaign being run by RIM with a comedic skit like an approach to convince New York Times readers that RIM 'doesn't get any respect'.
Their upcoming devices for the market are said to be using dual-core technology and QNX operating systems. This will be true for almost all BlackBerry devices, not necessarily everything made by RIM. The problem is, RIM does not yet have any of these devices ready and no smart phones are ready for release.
The fact is QNX operating systems and dual-core processing capabilities are scheduled in upcoming BlackBerry and tablet devices from competitors. It is possible that RIM has its own reasoning that is sound and being kept out of the press....<Read more>
